Mixed Singles Box Leagues
The club frequently runs box leagues via the LTA software, which is free to join for members.
A Box League is a Ladder ranking, split up in multiple groups. After each round, players move up, down or remain unchanged in their group, based in their results.
It is a great way to regularly play competitive singles.
How do the box leagues work?
How do I join?
To join, you will need to log in to your LTA account and use the link below. For members of the club, make sure you have “Meadows City Tennis Club” as an affiliated venue on your account. Here’s a guide on how to do that.
How are the groups organised?
If a player joins the box league for the first time, they will be automatically assigned to a group based on their World Tennis Number on their LTA account.
In following rounds, players will move up or down depending on their performance in the previous round they’ve played, and depending on how many people have joined the round. There might be more or fewer groups compared to the previous round depending on the number of participants.
We’re aiming to have 6 to 8 players per group to make it manageable for everyone to play everyone in their group. A round will last roughly 10 weeks.
How do I play my matches?
At the start of the round, you will get an email from the LTA with the details of your group. The league admin will also aim to create a WhatsApp group as soon as possible when the round start to facilitate the organisation of matches.
It is up to the players in each group to organise their matches before the end of the round and to book and pay for a court.
If you do not manage to play every match in your group, you will simply miss the opportunity to earn more points and win your group.
What is the scoring format?
The default format is best of 3 sets – players can agree to play a championship tie-break (first to 10) in lieu of third set, but both players have to agree on that.
A victory will earn a player 2 points. It is up to the winning player to enter the score on the LTA platform – simply use the link above or check the WhatsApp group/LTA email for the link.
