2020 Team Practice

Tennis Drills Sessions – from Sunday 2nd Feb, 3pm

2020 is now well underway, days are actually getting longer again. Time for tennis, surely.

Those of you who were around last year will remember we offered some Sunday coaching drills sessions. These typically involve a few coaching drills aimed at improving doubles skills and tactics, followed by a couple of sets of doubles play. This is primarily designed for those who are keen to get involved in the East of Scotland Doubles Leagues (April-June), but is open to whoever wants to come along, so long as they understand that is the focus.

Feedback has been very positive, so we will be doing it again this year, starting from 2nd February 3.00-5.00pm on courts 5-8. This time will change as sunset gets later, to help keep court hire costs to a minimum.

If you are interested in getting involved, please let us know by clicking the button below by 28th January to ensure you get the relevant communications.

There is a small charge to cover the extra costs of court hire and provision of training balls. This year, there are 2 options – £10 for all sessions or £2 pay as you go. If you want to go for the £10 option, please transfer this to the club account (Sort Code: 83-18-44; Account no: 00200087) with your name as a reference. PAYG will be collected at the start of the sessions – please have the exact cash ready!

The East of Scotland Doubles Leagues – are you interested?

As noted above, these Sunday sessions are primarily aimed at those wanting to play in the doubles leagues – this year Meadows City will once again have 4 Men’s and 2 Ladies teams entered. It’s a great chance to represent the club in some competitive league doubles play.
To set some expectations upfront – the teams of 6 players each are picked on doubles tennis ability, per the rules of the competition. We, therefore, can’t guarantee to accommodate all who want to play. It’s the only competition with such criteria the club enters, and there are other options in the summer/autumn for those who don’t get to play. If you are interested in putting yourself forward for selection, please also use the doodle poll through the button above to let us know. We will be in touch with more details on the leagues generally and team selection to those who respond.
